All in the Dakota Family: Carroll O’Connor’s Luxurious Dakota Apartment, NYC #dakota #nyc
Actor Carroll O'Connor, famed for his role as Archie Bunker in "All in the Family," owned an apartment in the Dakota, a historic and prestigious building in New York City. After his wife's death in 2014, their elegant apartment, reflecting the grandeur of the late 19th century with high ceilings, ornate moldings, and classic design elements, was sold. The apartment, known for its spaciousness and luxurious features, attracted significant interest due to O'Connor's legacy and the building's iconic status.

It's a Faberge' Egg. Or something laid or excreted. Versace home offices. Definitely provocative or something Buckminster Fuller dreamed of. IDK but definitely a conversation starter and, or, stopper. ❤ 😂

I wonder what Carrol paid for it. It needs mobiles or tree's or art or something to take your eye up to those fantastic high celiings. I personally wouldnt do it in vintage modern but I love the Dunbar sofa.

Interesting mix of eras with the decorating and furniture. If I bought that place I would redo the kitchen. The stark white cabinets just doesn’t if the character of the apartment.

The space itself is lovely, but the furnishings felt cold as ice to me. I could never live with that. I did like the kitchen though. Small but completely utilitarian. Again, lovely apartment. We all have different taste in furnishings... and that's fine too.

This apartment is UTTERLY ORDINARY, except for the two wood-burning fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom. Anywhere else, this apartment might sell for $200,000 or $400,000. But when you are in THE DAKOTA, the price goes into the millions.

Looking like "that" at 46? Even my early 60's I don't look like that but where I live, a lot of people that age look like that and worse. We have all the legal vices you can desire here and people over indulge a lot! Mostly booze, tobacco.

Apartment's okay ... But, even if I had the money, I wouldn't pay $2 M for it. And if they left that outdated furniture (not beautiful antique furnishings), I'd have them deduct more or at least remove it all. Never cared for Danish modern (or mid 20th century style ... cold and stark looking)! 😐

In the 70s when this show was on my family had one television, so we children were held hostage to whatever the parents wanted to watch. This included wonderful things like gunsmoke and happy days and even Star Trek. Luckily, my parents had no interest at all in all in the family. my parents were actually very racist and backward in their thinking, but for some reason I guess they didn’t identify with Archie because he was in the city and they were country folk. I always found Carol Connor to be a loud obnoxious racist, and I didn’t think he was funny at all. I should say I found Archie to be that way, I’m sure Carol O’Connor was actually a lovely person. I just never could stand to listen to that noise when he spoke or watch that show. I cannot to this day understand why anybody would call that show beloved.

This is so cool!! Norman Foster certainly did a fantastic job of this and it looks so cool !! The shape of the Gherkin is really like a cucumber! Londons architectural design is perfect !! Norman Foster surely is a great architect as I can see the way he knows what he’s doing for sure . It’s so great that he had natural light , efficient heating systems and rainwater systems, that is so important to the city and for sustainable living!!
